Supporting our team to support their local communities
Brick By Brick is a company set up to provide homes for the people of Croydon, and return any proceeds back to the council. We aim to work with local companies, and employ local people, and about 50% of our staff live within the borough of Croydon.
These are challenging times for everyone in the UK, but with the highest numbers of Coronavirus cases in London, now is a time for us to come together and support each other.
Our team are all working hard from home to continue developing and selling our homes. However, we also want them to have the time and resources to help their local communities, so we’re giving them a couple of hours off every week through this Covid-19 lockdown to volunteer. This could be by linking up with their local Covid-19 Mutual Aid group, volunteering with the NHS, donating to local foodbanks.
Or it could be simply by supporting neighbours or family who are self-isolating and in need of some help during this time. By reaching out and helping, we will get through this together.
Many of our staff are helping out at their local foodbanks, collecting and delivering donations. One is helping with Nishkam SWAT, supporting the homeless with food and clothes in Croydon. Another of our team is helping out at Cook-19 a start-up charity delivering food to London-based NHS staff who have to self isolate. Others who live with those who have to self-isolate at this time have been donating money to Crisis or the Trussell Trust.
If you know of any local groups that need additional help, especially anything that can be done remotely such as calling to offer emotional support, do let us know at [email protected]
